O
CIT -r OF TRACY _
n'roApoRArra G,dr 2119: 83,2211R. O. BOX 1029 • TR 4C1 • f4Ll4 lIR Nln 9;lth
May 11, 1979
Regional Water Quality
Control Board
Central valley Region
3251 "S" Street
Sacramento, CA 95816
Sirs :
I am enclosing our self monitoring reports for the month of April,
1979. As can be seen from the reports, we were deficient in meet-
ing our discharge requirements as follows:
1• We exceeded the minimum effluent pH limit one time.
2. One bioassay value was invalid because of diseased
test fish.
3 • We exceeded the daily maximum total coliform limit on
one day .
4. One BOD value was invalid due to a laboratory error.
5. One high suspended solids value was invalid because of
the cleaning of weirs which led to a false indication
of effluent quality.
We collected a total of sixty-nine effluent grab samples for chlorine
residual . Out of these, we exceeded our daily maximum limit in
twelve cases. Many of these excesses were due to our attempt to
control chlorine dosage based on effluent flow instead of manually,
based on the current chlorine demand. We found that we could not
control as well on a flow-paced system.
As can also be seen, we achieved an overall BOD reduction of 95 . 4%
and an overall suspended solids reduction of 95. 6 .
If you desire anything further, please let us know.
Sincerely,
WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT
DARRELL D .
