INFORMATION SHEET
CITY OF TRACY
WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT -3-
The permit contains a provision and time schedule to achieve compliance with
the receiving water flow monitoring. Currently, no receiving water flow
monitoring device is located at the effluent discharge point in Old River.
The City of Tracy will need to assess the best way of measuring the flows in
Old River, and the time schedule gives them time for that assessment.
Sludge Management
The City of Tracy submitted a Sludge Management Plan (July 1990) proposing a
demonstration project of sludge disposal on agricultural land for the Fall of
1990. Regional Board staff approved the project, with modifications, on
25 September 1990. The project consisted of landspreading stockpiled sludge
from the City's plant on approximately 400 acres owned by the City and leased
to K & L Farms. The results of the demonstration project will be used to
evaluate the viability of this method of sludge reuse. A report evaluating
the monitoring data from at the project site will be submitted in April 1991 .
The City hopes that the results will be favorable and that long term disposal
can occur on an additional 1600 acres owned by the City. A long term disposal
operation will be issued separate waste discharge requirements. Sludge is
currently being stockpiled at the City of Tracy wastewater treatment plant.
AMM
