(Wright) has prepared this the work plan for the <br /> Initial Site Assessment Investigation at the above referenced (see Figure 1). The purpose <br /> of this work is perform a reconnaissance assessment of petroleum contaminants in soil and ' <br /> groundwater near and around the former tank pit areas as required by the San Joaquin <br /> County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division (PHS EHD) in their letter <br /> dated August 15, 2001. <br /> Background <br /> On January 20, 1998 one underground storage tank last containing diesel fuel for a backup <br /> generator was removed from the site under a PHS/EHD permit and inspection. Soil <br /> samples and one grab groundwater sample were collected for chemical analysis. The data <br /> showed Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Diesel(TPHD) at 11 milligrams per kilogram in <br /> soil and 580 per liter in groundwater were detected (as shown on letter from <br /> PHS referencing ata`coo ected on January 20, 1998). PHS/EHD directed in their letter of <br /> December 5, 2001 that a work plan be submitted for site assessment. <br /> Proposed Scope of Work <br /> Exploratory Drilling and Soil Sampling, <br /> Up to four borings will be positioned to ascertain distribution of the TPHD contaminants <br /> in site soil and groundwater. Drilling permits will be secured from the PHS EHD, and all <br /> utilities will be cleared prior to doing the fieldwork.
