s
A
Strata may grade laterally and vertically in the region and is typical San Joaquin Valley sediment
• depositional environments The site borehole data indicate that the uppermost shallow aquifer
and underlying aquitard have lateral continuity in the area investigated
Physical Analysis
One soil sample from Boring B-1 at 13 5-15 5 feet was sent to Earthtec Ltd for physical analysts
The laboratory report is attached and the results are presented below in Table 1
Table 1. Physical Analysis
SAMPLE ORGANIC SPECIFIC MOISTURE DRY UNIT HYDRAULIC POROSITY BULK
CARBON GRAVITY CONTENT WEIGHT CONDUCTIVITY DENSITY
% % Pcf Cm/sec % Pcf
B-1@13 5- 0 1 I 2 766 3080 1169 1 56x 10-5 48 1179
15
Pcf—pounds per cubic foot Cm/sec —Centimeters per second
i
The test results indicate that the sample is a silty and clayey soil with a relatively low hydraulic
conductivity The sample was collected from the upper portions of the aquifer and the aquifer
sand content increases in depth over the site The hydraulic conductivity is probably somewhat
• higher in the lower sandier aquifer strata Borehole logging shows that the aquifer strata are
predominantly composed of sandy clay and clayey sand strata Some sand strata appear to
laterally grade with these strata within the aquifer
The organic carbon content is very low when compared to "typical" near surface soil Organic
carbon decays through oxidation and depth of burial in geologic deposits In our opinion, given
the depth of these sediments, the organic carbon content is considered very low to negligible
The porosity and density data for the sample are considered in the range of clayey sand and sandy
clay soil
Chemical Analysis
Eight soil samples four groundwater samples were analyzed at Kiff Analytical LLC, a certified
analytical laboratory Samples were be tested for the following, Total Petroleum hydrocarbons as
Gasoline (TPHG), Benzene (B), Toluene (T), Ethylbenzene (E), Xylene (X), and Volatile
Organic Compounds (VOC), Methyl-tent-butyl-ether (MTBE), and fuel oxygenates tert-Amyl-
Methyl-Ether, Ethyl-tert-Butyl-Ether, Di-Isopropyl Ether and tert-Butyl Alcohol (TAME, ETBE,
DIPE, TBA) and 1,2-Dichloroethane and Ethylene Dibromide using EPA Methods 3550,
351018015, 5030, 8020 and 8260 The analytical reports are attached and the data is presented in
Tables 2 and 3 below
t
