INTRODUCTION
Live Oak GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (Live Oak) was contracted by Rick Marrun to conduct
a Nitrate Loading Study for his property located at 11851 West Valpico Road, Tracy,
California. Mr. Marrun indicated that he purchased the Site with an existing house and
cottage (converted from a barn by a previous owner). He plans to install a new septic
system to serve the cottage.
Because of concerns of nitrate leaching into ground water from septic systems, a nitrate
loading analysis was required by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department for approval of the project. The study estimates the potential concentration
of percolating effluent produced by the proposed project over the long term. Where
percolating effluent leaches into the ground, ground-water quality may be impacted to
some degree should the effluent reach the aquifer.
The formatting of the report has been designed to follow the recommendations of the
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department as described in its Nitrate
Loading Study Requirements Checklist.
Site Description
The Assessor's Parcel Number (APN) for the Site is 242-050-04. The parcel is 0.5
acres in size, and is located at 11851 West Valpico Road, Tracy, California (Plate 1).
The Site contains a three-bedroom house and a two-bedroom cottage (Plate 2). A
domestic well supplies water to the Site.
An existing septic system serves the house. Mr. Marrun indicated that a new septic
system will be installed to serve the cottage.
LOGE 1840 Page 1
