Existing and Proposed Septic Tank Usage
Existing Septic System
Two septic systems are currently located on the Site. One system serves the house,
and the other serves the dog kennel. According to Mr. Patino, a previous owner
constructed the dog kennel so that animal waste could be washed through drains in the
floor and disposed in the septic system. There is no living space in the kennel, and Mr.
Patino indicated that he uses it as a storage building.
Proposed Septic System
A new septic system will be constructed to serve the new house (Plate 2).
On-Site Septic Permit History
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department septic permit files were
searched for the Site address. Five septic permits were identified:
• June 1965 permit for new septic system at house. The system utilizes a 1,200-
gallon septic tank, four 56- to 58-foot leach lines, and two 33-inch diameter by
25-foot deep seepage pits.
• November 1967 permit for addition to existing system at dog kennel. A 50-foot
leach line and a 33-inch diameter by 25-foot deep seepage pit were added to the
existing system.
• September 1997 permit for addition to existing system at dog kennel. Two 40-
foot leach lines and two 36-inch diameter by 25-foot deep seepage pits were
added to the existing system.
• September 2002 permit for repair to existing residential system. A 40-foot leach .-
line and two 36-inch diameter by 25-foot deep seepage pits were added to the
existing residential system.
I
• November 2007 permit for repair to existing system at dog kennel. A 40-foot
leach line and three 36-inch diameter by 25-foot deep seepage pits were added
to the existing system.
These permits have been included in Appendix 4 of this report. The permits indicate a
history of additions to both septic systems, presumably because of failures in the
systems.
LOGE 1850 Page 2
