Sep-21 -98 05 : 13P P -06 <br /> CytoCulture <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL <br /> BIOTECHNOLOGY <br /> A Dtvism OP CrroCummt INTUNATMAL Iw- <br /> December 19, 1995 <br /> Fugro Project No 9547-0901 <br /> Ms Amy Dietz <br /> Norval Waste Systems, Inc. <br /> 5 Thomas Mellon Circle, Suite 304 <br /> San Francisco, CA 94134 FAX 916-878-6018 <br /> RE: Batch Bioremediation Inoculation and Installation of Infiltration and <br /> Extraction Galleries at the LAGCO site, 1285 Pear Avenue, Mountain View, CA <br /> Dear Ms Dietz <br /> This report is the summarization of the work that was actually performed at the Los Altos <br /> Garbage Company site in Mountain View, CA following the removal of two underground fuel <br /> storage tanks (USTs) and the over-excavation of the impacted soil surrounding the former <br /> tank complex The procedures at the site were performed in collaboration with Peter Hudson <br /> of Fugro West, Inc and an equipment operator from Ramcon Engineering & Environmental <br /> Contracting, Inc <br /> Water samples taken from the batch culture bioreactor and pretreatment ground water and <br /> post inoculation groundwater from the excavation were returned to CytoCulture's <br /> microbiological laboratory for analysis of nutrient composition, pH and hydrocarbon <br /> degrading bacterial populations <br /> Work Summary for Batch Bioremediation Inoculation <br /> Background <br /> Two USTs (one 10,000-gallon tank used for gasoline and one 7,500-gallon tank used for <br /> diesel) were removed by excavation contractors during the week of December 4, 199! under <br /> the supervision of Fugro West, Inc (Roseville, CA) Over-excavation proceeded to remove <br /> soils which were a source of petroleum hydrocarbon impact to groundwater in the immediate <br /> vicinity of the former UST complex <br /> As described in the Phase I assessment and the recent Bioremediation Feasibility Stud,+ <br /> Report, the site geology is characterized by a relatively homogeneous clay layer (9-10 ft bgs) <br /> overlying a more permeable sandy layer The apparent water table lies 9-10 ft bgs, indicating <br /> the capillary fringe includes the sand/clay interface in most areas and may extend well into <br /> 249 TEWKSBURY AVENUE POINT RICHMOND CA 94801 <br /> 5101233-0102 FAX 5101233-3777 <br />
