EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Upgradient Environmental Consultants visited the Valley Motors dealership on December S to
measure water depths and collect groundwater samples from the four on-site monitoring wells The
depth to groundwater is unchanged since September, and remains at an average depth of 32 feet
below grade Depth measurements indicate that groundwater continues to flow to the east or
northeast
After the depth to groundwater was measured, the wells were purged with a submersible
groundwater pump and water samples were collected with disposable Teflon bailers, poured into
40-m1 vials and preserved for laboratory analysis Four samples were collected and analyzed foi
TPH-gasoline using EPA method 602 and for BTEX using EPA method 8020
Hydrocarbon concentrations decreased substantially in VM-1 during the quarter, and for the first
time since monitoring began m 1996, gasoline (TPH-g)was not detected Ethylbenzene and xylene
also decreased below detection limits Substantial decreases were also reported in each of the other
wells, including a 50%decrease in all analytes in VM-2 These results are very encouraging, but the
cause of such a significant change is unknown
1
