. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Upgradient Environmental Consultants visited the Valley Motors dealership on June 7 to measure
water depths and collect groundwater samples from the six on-site wells The depth to groundwater
is a few inches less than it was in March, when the site was last monitored Depth measurements
indicate that groundwater continues to flow to the east
After measuring the depth to groundwater, the wells were purged with a submersible groundwater
pump and water samples were collected with disposable Teflon bailers, poured into 40-m1 vials and
preserved for laboratory analysis All samples were analyzed for TPH-gasoline using EPA method
602 and for BTEX using EPA method 8020 The samples from two wells(VM-4 and S W-1) were
also analyzed for five oxygenates using EPA method 8260
Since March, TPH-g concentrations have decreased in four of the five wells and BTEX
concentrations have increased in two wells (VM-1 and VM-3) and decreased in two others (VM-2
and SW-1) Thus, BTEX concentrations have been on the rise in VM-1 and on the decline in VM-2
since October 1999 Concentrations in VM-3 and VM-4 have fluctuated during this period MTBE
was detected at 0 8 µgd in VM4 Due to matrix interference from TPH-g(32,100 tg/l), the
detection limit for MTBE in SW-1 was 50 ppb, and no MTBE was detected above this limit
•
1
