for the submittal of this workplan did not permit researching County files in order to locate <br /> any additional commercial, domestic, or groundwater monitoring wells. None were noted in <br /> the area during a brief visit to the site, but if it is deemed necessary, further investigation will <br /> be conducted prior to beginning the proposed work <br /> PRIOR USE OF REMOVED UST's: <br /> The year that Mr Huduke acquired the property is not known, but at the time of possession, <br /> there were two (2) 5,000 gallon UST's already in place The date of their installation is not <br /> known, but they were reported to be out of service since March, 1987 The tanks were never <br /> used by the present owner, who has operated a used car business on the site since acquiring <br /> the property It is assumed that sometime prior to Mr Hyduke's ownership that the site had <br /> been used for the storage and dispensing of gasoline, although the two (2) dispensing pumps <br /> had been removed prior to the removal of the UST's. <br /> SUMMARY OF PRIOR WORK: <br /> Refer to EXHIBIT J for details. <br /> RESULTS OF LATEST WORK: <br /> Soil Borings <br /> On April 13, 1994, Mitchell Drilling moved a properly licensed auger ng on the site and <br /> using clean 81/a"OD hollow-stem augers bored and soil sampled two (2) borings, SB 1 and <br /> SB2 (PLATE VIIIA) Bonng SB I was originally proposed to a depth of 15 feet, but due to <br /> detected gasoline odor the boring was advanced to a total depth of 41 feet Bonng SB2 was <br /> carred to a total depth of 401h feet Soil samples were collected from both bonngs at five (5) <br /> foot intervals starting at five (5) feet below ground level to total depth bored (EXHIBIT K <br /> and PLATE IX) Soil samples were taken using a California modified splitspoon sampler <br /> One (1) sample tube from each cored interval was briefly described (EXHIBIT K) the ends of <br /> the brass tubes promptly covered with foil, sealed with plastic caps, and securely wrapped <br /> with duct tape The samples were labeled for identification and preserved on ice for <br /> transportation to a State Certified laboratory <br /> Soil boring SB 1, the most northerly boring, is located in the trench that contained the <br /> removed product line While boring and sampling operations were being conducted, gasoline, <br /> odors were noted at 1116 feet in the clay taken from the shoe, in SB 1-3 at 14-141h feet, SB 1-4 <br /> at 201/2-21 feet, SBI-5 at 251h-26 feet, and questionable odor in SBI-6 at 301h-31 feet, and <br /> SBI-7 at 3516-36 feet. <br /> Soil boring SB2, located at the north end of the filled in excavation which held the removed <br /> gasoline storage tanks, noted gasoline odor in soil sample SB2-4 at 2016-21 feet, and a slight <br /> odor in SB2-5 at 251h-26 feet, and SB2-6 at 30'h-31 feet <br /> 3 <br />
