• contained 0 32 ppm Xylene was below detection limits an all soil samples except for SB24
that contained 120 ppm
The laboratory analyzed all the soil samples for TPH-QaSolIj3t- and reported them as below
detection limits However, samples SBI-3, SBI-4, SB1-5, SBI-6, SB2-5, SB3-3, and SB34
were noted by the laboratory to have a diesel peak pattern The lab notified WJH of this
finding and received approval to analyze those samples for TPH-Diesel The following
samples were then run for TPH-Diesel using EPA Method 8015M SBI-3, SBI-4, SBI-5,
SB2-3, SB2-4, SB2-5, SB3-3, SB3-4, and SB3-5 All the samples were reported non-detect
for diesel, but Stoddard Solvent was found in SB1-3 at 183 ppm, SBI-5 at 50 ppm, SB2-4 at
59 ppm, and SB3-3 at 10 ppm
Total lead was found in alI the soil samples except for SB2-6, SB4-6, and SB4-7 The total
lead levels were under the allowed linut of 50 ppm, except for soil samples SB2-2 with 56
ppm, SB3-2 with 57 ppm, an B2-4 with 890 m These three samples were analyzed by
the laboratory of STLC lead using EPA Method 7420 and were reported as non-detect
7 7gpI
PLATE IXA is a cross sectional diagram through the soil boring that illustrates the type and
amount of contaminate reported in parts per mullion, and shows the depth of the
contamination an each boring Total lead results are shown only where they exceed the 50
PPM
CONCLUSIONS
Based upon the results of the certified laboratory analysis, soil contamination for BTEX as
presently identified in the southwestern portion of the removed product lane trench by SBI-3,
SB 1-4, and SB1-5, and in the northern portion of the filled excavation that held the removed
gasoline storage tanks by soil boring SB2-4 The major amounts of contamination were
found an clays at fourteen (14) feet to twenty-one (21) feet below ground surface A lesser
amount of contamination was found in the upper part of a seven (7) foot sand section at
twenty-six (26) feet below ground surface in SBI The top of this sand layer was
encountered an all five borings and ranged in depth of 20' to 30' below ground surface The
base of the sand section was at +/- 311fa' in all the soil bonngs BTEX was not reported an
soil borings SB3, SB4, or SB5 Neither was there any contamination reported in the clay soil
below the sand section in any of the borings which were all carried to a depth of 4016 to 41
feet
TPH-Gasoline was below detection limits an all of the analyzed soil samples Those soil
samples that were reported by the lab as noting a diesel peak were analyzed and reported as
non-detect for diesel, but instead analyzed as Stoddard Solvent for two samples an SB1, one
sample in SB2, and one sample an SB3
Total lead, above the allowable level (50 ppm), was reported at eleven (11) feet below ground
level an only three (3) soil samples, SB2-2, SB3-2, and SB4-2 All the other samples were
5
