Jule 21, 1999
NOA ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECT NUMBER E99130
Banvel (also known as Dicamba): Dicamba is a benzoic acid herbicide. It is moderately toxic to
humans. It is not considered to be a carcinogen or mutagen, but is suspected of being a human
teratogen. Its soil half-life varies from 4 to 555 days with the typical half-life being 1 to 4 weeks.
Dicamba does not bind to soil particles and is highly soluble in water. It is therefore highly mobile
in the soil and may contaminate groundwater.
Ambush: The main active ingredient in this pesticide is Permethrin. Not much information was
provided relative to Ambush. See the information presented below relative to Permethrin.
Permethrin: Permethrin is a broad spectrum insecticide. It has low mammalian toxicity. It is not
considered to be a carcinogen, mutagen or teratogen. Permethrin is readily broken down, or
degraded, in most soils except organic types. It has a soil half-life of from three to six weeks.
Because permethrin binds very strongly to soil particles and it is nearly insoluble in water, it is not
expected to leach or to contaminate groundwater.
No information was available in EXTOXNET or Crop Protection Chemicals Reference for Nufilm
P, RNA Activator 85, and Sprayaide.
5. San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District
The San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District(APCD)was contacted in an effort to
obtain information as to whether any agricultural burn permits have been issued for the subject
property. According to APCD officials, they have a valid burn permit under the name of Frank
Jacklich for the subject property. The APCD has no records of any notices of violations being issued
to Mr. Jacklich for the subject property.
6. California Integrated Waste Management Board
The Solid Waste Information System (SWIS) database is maintained by the California Integrated
Waste Management Board (CIWMB). The SWIS database contains an inventory of solid waste
disposal facilities or landfills. These may be active or inactive facilities or open dumps that failed to
meet RCRA Section 2004 criteria for solid waste landfills or disposal sites. The SWIS database list
was reviewed for reference to the subject property and to sites located within one-quarter(1/4)mile
of the subject property.
According to the SWIS database list dated May 1999, the subject property does not appear on the
SWIS database at this time. The CIWMB notes no (0) sites on the which are within the specified
search radius of the subject property.
8
