o R
R
18 2017
Continued from Page 1 ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
Bravo tank sump covers (or lids) are a mandatory component of Bravo B-406'Se-Fies tank-t9p
secondary containment sumps used in applications involving motor fuels and other hazardous fluids.
They also apply to the B-830 Commercial Series of transition sumps. The CTS line of covers
provide a critical function: which is to ensure a water-tight seal and prevent water intrusion. This
may be caused by elevated ground water levels, personnel spraying down the driveway, water runoff
from a higher area, rain and snow/snow melt. The CTS covers provide a seal to the tank sump reducer
(uppermost edge) and/or to the inspection port and spill bucket reducers. The prevention of water
intrusion ultimately prevents avoidable false liquid level alarms, accelerated corrosion to
components and in the event that the sump may fill with water;the egress of fuel into the ground water
table. These covers are made from the same UL listed resins as all Bravo fiberglass products,
making them equally compatible with all current conventional and alterantive fuels.
For the purposes of this review, I have:
1) Reviewed the construction and installation procedures for the CTS Series of tank sump
covers that employ 4-point spring-tension fasteners and closed cell seal. The reducers
supplied by Bravo for Phil Tite models were covered in this review.
2) Reviewed the construction and installation procedures for the SL Series of tank sump
covers that employ an o-ring seal at the sump reducer and 4-point CAM-lock fasteners.
3) Reviewed the construction and installation procedures for the single and double walled
B-400 Series tank sumps (400,401,409)and B-830 Series transition sumps.
4) Reviewed materials used to construct the secondary containment system component for
sufficient thickness, density and corrosion resistance to prevent structural weakening or
damage to the secondary containment system as a result of contact with hazardous
substances contained in California fuels.
Upon review of the manufacturing procedures, the employment of the materials used in the Bravo
Systems CTS and SL Series sump covers and the manufacturer's installation guidelines, it is my
conclusion that sound design and engineering of this product for use with fiberglass single and
double wall secondary containment structures will meet or exceed the secondary containment
requirements as concerns corrosion resistance and material compatibility of all motor vehicle fuels,
alternative fuels or their additives currently used by petroleum marketers today. I approve the above
engineering specifications for the following sump cover models:
CTS-33, CTS-37, CPTS-33, CPTS-37, CPTDS-33, CPTDS-37, CPTQS-37, COPWS-33, COPWS-37,
COPWDS-33, COPWDS-37, COPWQS-37, CCNIS-33, CCNIDS-33, CCNIDS-37, SL-32, SL-32-FLO-11,
SL-32-FLO-12,SL-32-FLO-20,SL-36, SL-36-FLO-11, SL-36-FLO-12, SL-36-FLO-20
Please contact me with any questions at 800-282-7286. - --
OPOFESSjON
Q ,
Sincerely, c, K. q0
CO
No. 3 77
4.6 17
Don K.
