(Cambria) and has the following comments.
In the RAP Cambria proposes and provides procedures for the installation of five
additional vapor extraction wells (VEW-3 thru VEW-7) and the installation and operation .
of a dual phase extraction (DPE) remediation system. Existing wells VEW-1 and VEW-2
will also be utilized in the remediation. Extracted vapors will be treated with a catalytic
oxidizer; extracted groundwater will be either treated onsite with carbon and discharged.
under permit to the sanitary sewer, or stored onsite and hauled off for treatment. Onsite
treatment and discharge is the method Cambria prefers, if the appropriate permits can
be obtained from the City of Stockton water purveyor.
The proposed locations of the VEW wells look reasonable. The submitted estimate of
contaminant mass remaining in soil looks reasonable. SJC/EHD approves the RAP.
Please proceed with submittal of a San Joaquin County Well Permit Application,
required $89.00 permit fee and $279.00 permit inspection fee, and with scheduling the
approved work. Deadline for installation of the proposed wells is February 3, 2006. As
discussed at the November 8, 2005 meeting, it is anticipated that the remediation unit
will be on site by January 2006, and interim remediation will be conducted until the
permanent system is in place.
If you have any questions please call Lori Duncan at (209)468-0337.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Department
Lori Duncan, Senior REHS Nuel C.
