(Cambria) and has the following comments.
The report documents a routine quarterly groundwater monitoring and sampling event that
was conducted at the above referenced site on March 21, 2004. All reports of findings
documenting site fieldwork conducted at contaminated underground storage tank (UST)
sites should be submitted to SJC1EHD within 60 days following
the future please submit all quarterly groundwater monitoring and sampling reports within
60 days of the event.
In correspondence dated February 26, 2004 SJC/EHD conditionally approved Interim
Remediation Work Plan Addendum (Addendum) dated February 12, 2004 prepared on
your behalf by Cambria. The Addendum proposed interim remediation near the source
area at this site by dual phase extraction (DPE). Specifically, Cambria proposed to
conduct DPE on well VEW-2 for at least three continuous days, and soil vapor extraction
on well VEW-1 for at least two continuous days. The condition of the SJC/EHD approval
ewas ffective inremov ng thPE ld continue e core of the remaining ng soil contamination from thysis of extracted vapors e site. it was
A limited DPE event was conducted during June 2004 without prior notification to
SJC/EHD that it had been scheduled. In the 2Q'04 report Cambria states that a report
describing the 5-day dual phase test will be submitted under separate cover. The DPE
was not proposed or approved as a test, it was proposed and approved as interim
remediation. If the report of the DPE event does not show that analysis of extracted
vapors was effective in removing the core of the remaining soil contamination from the
r contamination in the
core areahasoto occurred, interim remediation of the grroundwateE must be conducted. if reduction of rmust be evaluated.
As stated above, all reports of findings following fieldwork at contaminated UST sites
should be submitted to SJC/EHD within 60 days following completion of the work.
