• The ground water contour/chemical concentration map prepared for the fourth quarter of <br /> 1997 incorrectly reported benzene concentrations as 1,300 ppb in Well MW-5 The correct <br /> value is 9 1 ppb A corrected map is included in this report <br /> Quarterly Sampling <br /> Monitoring Wells MW-1 through MW-7 and VEW-2 were sampled and analyzed for Total Purgeable <br /> Petroleum Hydrocarbons quantitated as gasoline (TPPH) and methanol according to EPA Method <br /> 8015 (Modified), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) and methyl-tertiary-butyl- <br /> ether (MTBE) according to EPA Method 8020, and ethanol, tertiary-butanol, MTBE, di-isopropyl <br /> ether (DIPS), ethyl-tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), and tertiary-amyl-methyl ether (TAME) by EPA <br /> Method 8260 Additionally, a duplicate sample and an equipment blank were prepared and analyzed <br /> for quality control purposes <br /> Field monitoring and chemical analytical data are summarized in Table 1 Blaine's ground water <br /> monitoring report is presented in Appendix A <br /> Conclusions <br /> The concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons and MTBE have risen in comparison to last quarter's <br /> findings Ground water flow direction remains southwesterly, which is consistent with historical <br /> trends <br /> Recommendations <br /> Methanol and ethanol have not been detected in any of the wells at this site for the past two <br /> quarters Cambria recommends that analysis for these two fuel oxygenates be discontinued and will <br /> implement this during the second quarter ground water monitoring event unless otherwise directed <br /> from SJCPHS Site monitoring and sampling will continue according to the established schedule <br /> i <br /> 240-0854 2 <br />
