i
Bank of Stockton Ij f Page 2
r
I
PHS/EHD concurs that a second round of groundwater ri onitol ring will provide confirming
data, prior to the installation of additional monitoring wells, ,which may be necessary to
further assess the lateral extent of groundwater contamination. ;The next quarterly sampling
should be scheduled September 9, 1992 with the resultant quarterly report due
September 23, 1992. Please be advised that pursuant to Sdction 2652(d) of the Underground
Tank Regulations, a quarterly monitoring report shall be submitted to PHS/EHD and the
Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) until the investigation ,
and cleanup of the site is deemed adequate. I}
PHS/EHD requested in correspondence, dated January,,23, 1;992, that total lead analysis
occur in lieu of organic lead analysis which was proposedlin the work plan. Soil samples of
the excavation taken February 3, 1992 underwent analysis for organic lead. Soil samples of
the borings converted to monitoring wells taken May 15, 1992 did not undergo lead analysis i
as requested. Soil contamination was encountered during theidnlling of monitoring wells,
MW-2 and MW-3, indicating residual soil contamination is present. Any future confirmation
sample analysis should include total lead.
i
I
If you have any questions or to schedule a site inspection, please contact Mary Meays,
REHS, of my staff at (209) 468-0337.
I
i
Jogi Khanna, M.D., M.P.H.
HealthOffice Ir p
f
A.
