QUARTERLY REPORT <br /> Babka Distributing <br /> 1149 West Weber Avenue <br /> Stockton, California <br /> November 10, 1993 <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> In accordance with a request from the Bank of Stockton, personnel <br /> from Geological Audit Services, Inc. (GeoAudit) have performed <br /> quarterly groundwater monitoring procedures at 1149 west Weber <br /> Avenue in Stockton, California (the site) . The pro)ect background, <br /> procedures , findings and conclusions are presented in the following <br /> sections. <br /> 2. 0 BACKGROUND <br /> 2.1 Site Location <br /> The site is located in a flat industrial, area in the Port of <br /> Stockton (Figure 1) . There is a large warehouse, a small metal <br /> storage unit, a large asphalt-paved parking area, and a rail spur <br /> on the property (Figure 2) . The property was the site of Babka <br /> Distributing, a beer distributorship, until 1989 and was vacant <br /> from 1989 to 1992 . The property is currently used by the World <br /> Wildlife Museum for storage . <br /> 2.2 Tank Removal <br /> One 10, 000 gallon gasoline and one 3 , 000 gallon diesel tank were <br /> installed at the site in 1972 . The tanks were used to fuel the <br /> delivery trucks. <br /> Both underground storage tanks were removed from the site by Jim <br /> Thorpe Oil Company in April 1991 . Diesel and gasoline contamination <br /> were detected in soil samples collected beneath the tanks. The Bank <br /> of Stockton was directed by San Joaquin County Public Health <br /> Services - Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) to perform an <br /> assessment of the lateral and vertical extent of the contamination. <br /> 2 . 3 Interim Remediation <br /> Falcon Energy Associates, Inc. was retained to excavate the <br /> contaminated soil , and Geological Audit Services (GeoAudit) , Inc. <br /> was contracted to supervise the excavation and collect soil <br /> samples A Site Contamination Workplan to excavate the contaminated <br /> soil and install groundwater monitoring wells was submitted in <br /> December 1-991 , and excavation began in January 1992 . When the <br /> excavation reached a depth of 14 feet, groundwater began to enter <br /> the pit and a grab sample was collected and analyzed for total <br /> 1 <br />
