(Golder)in accordance with our <br /> proposal (letter dated November 11, 1994). !` <br /> s <br /> I ! <br /> i <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> ;I <br /> In December 1988,four underground storage tanks (UST)were removed from the Union Ice <br /> Company,ice manufacturing and cold frozen storage warehouse facility, at 1320 West <br /> Weber Street in Stockton,California. WHF Environmental Consultants,Inc. (WHF) <br /> h performed a remedial investigation in four phases which included installing thirteen <br /> monitoring wells,installing an extraction well, sampling the gIroundwater in each <br /> monitoring well,performing a 31 point soil gas survey, monitoring the removal of 4000 <br /> cubic yards of petroleum containing soil from the site, installing eight soil borings,collecting <br /> soil samples, performing an aquifer pumping test on well MW-8 and preparing reports. In i <br /> 'r it <br /> addition, investigations were also performed at another. ortion of the site; three <br /> g P p <br /> groundwater monitoring wells were installed as part of this investigation, <br /> } <br /> i 1 <br /> In addition to petroleum hydrocarbon sampling,WHF installed' and sampled three <br /> monitoring wells for chromium in February 1993,due tol reported brine releases in the area. <br /> In July 1994,Levine Fricke resampled five monitoring wells for chromium levels. The <br /> Levine Fricke report (December 1993)concluded that the brine.'!solution had not affected the <br /> groundwater beneath the suspected brine release area. h iE <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health Services,Environmental Halth Division,is providing <br /> regulatory oversight for this site.
