Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95202
Subject: Union Ice, 1320 W. Weber Street, Stockton, California
Dear Eleanor,
Pursuant to our telephone conversation last week regarding our proposed re-
excavation at this site and the monitoring well, please accept the enclosed changes.
We are now proposing to scale down the re-excavation to 40'x40'xl8' deep.
We have submitted a permit to your office, with the fees for the groundwater
extraction well.
We have attached to this letter, a less generic health and safety plan, as well as
site specific sampling protocols.
The question of backfilling the excavation was answered by stating that clean
dirt from the 5 acres of vacant land on site will be used to backfill the excavation. The
dirt we will be using is not associated with any previously aerated soils.
We will be performing slug and pump tests on the aquifer when the newest well
is installed. In the meantime, we will be performing interim treatment of the
groundwater from the newest well so that the plume does not go below the cold storage ,
warehouse. We will either dispose of the water in the sewer system, or on the' acres
of vacant land on site. We will first attempt to obtain permission from the City
P.O.T.W. for the discharge. If this is not possible, we wilt discharge to the land. In
both cases, we will have 2 - 10,000 gallon swing tanks on site, and no water will be
discharged prior to having-lab results showing none.detected,---Treatment will be
accomplished by using carbon drums.
