3 y
Utrion Ice Compatry - yyeber Street
11hase 11- Report of Fitrelutgs
Page G
t.x
i
a typical overbank to back .swamp deposit of a
rare coarser grained sediments. it is
K large river system.
Clay 13 is underlain by Sand 2, which is a blue-gray, Cine to medium grained,
R: micaceous sand. The full thickness of this sand is not known. This type of sand is a
typical river channel deposit deposited in scour fills and in the lower flow regime
portions of large river systems. Sand 2 was penetrated in only two (2) wells oil the
property (MW-4D and MW-3S); it probably is continuous over the entire site.
Lithologies similar to those discussed above underlie the site to depths of several liun-
dred feet. We have not explored them, however.
1 .
GROUND WATER
First ground water was found by the drill at a depth of 13 to 19 feet at this site. Pres-
ence of ground water coincided with the basal contact of Clay A/upper contact of Sand
[ 1 in every well drilled at this site. The piezometric surface of the water, as measured in
the monitor wells, is at 1 i to 12 feet below the well collar. This piezometric surface is
two to five feet (2-5') higher than the basal contact of Clay A; slight artesian conditions
k' appear to be present in the first aquifer (Sand 1).
Ground water flow direction in the Sand 1 aquifer is approximately S 45 degrees, E at
+ approximately one (1) foot of fall per 240 feet of plan distance. Ground water eleva-
tions were contoured at two separate times for this site; 4/2/90 and 4/19191. Results
were similar each time (Plate 3).
r
I
Water levels were measured on 4/2/90, 3/2/91 air! 4/19/91 by Henkle& Associates
1 personnel at this site. Depths to water, collar elevations and ground water elevations
I for:hese measurement events are shown in Table 1. Our findings are similar to
elevations measured by personnel of other companies that tool: the ground water
samples at various times at this site. The gradient direction apparently does not shift
with the seasons at this site.
Monitor Well-4D is screened in Sand 2, which is the second aquifer at the site. The
1` piezometric surface in Sand 2 was about three feet (3') below the piezometric surface in
Sand 1 in March of 1990. Since that time, however, the surface has dropped to about
an elevation of 16 feet. This is about 16 feet below the piezometric surface in Sand 1.
