r
Union Ice Company - Weber Street
Phase ll-Report of Findings
Page 10
Well 5S showed very minor amounts of Toluene contamination in March, 1990. This
p:K well has also sampled clean since that time.
3
Well 6S showed minor Toluene contamination in March, 1990. This well showed
slightly elevated levels of BTE&X in June of 1990. It has sampled clean since that
time. This well is also an up-gradient well, at the edge of the property; the minor
amounts of the contamination detected in this well may be indicative of an off-site
` source.
Well 7S showed minor Toluene and Xylene contamination in March and April of 1990.
This well has sampled clean since April of 1990. The minor levels of contaminates de-
tected previously are probably background levels of contamination in this highly indus-
t : trialized arca.
Evidence of contamination was noted on the geologist's log during installation of well
l,.. 4S (Appendix B). This wel! showed elevated Benzene (3,Oppb) and minor Toluene,
Ethyl Benzene and Xylene in May, 1990. This well has sampled clean since that time.
There is no further evidence of contamination in this portion of the aquifer, at this site.
r
Well 4D showed elevated Benzene (2.4ppb) and Toluene (110.0 ppb) in March, 1990.
It sampled clean in April, May, June and August of 1990. In March of 1991, it
sampled "ND" for Benzene and showed presence of minor levels of Toluene, Ethyl
Benzene and Xylene. This well sampled clean in April, 1991,
1
Well 4D is a second aquifer well. The sample results show that there has been some
minor contamination of the lower aquifer, at this site, resulting From the release from
the UST's. However, it appears to have cleaned up for the most part, particularly with
I respect to Benzene.
Wells MW-8S and MW-9S were installed in N1,1rch of 1991, as down-gradient monitor
wells. These wells were sampled in March and April of 1991 Witt, no contamination
detected.
t" Ground water samples taken from MW-9, MW-4S and MW-8S in March of 1991,
were also analyzed for fecal coliform and coliform bacteria. Laboratory reports for this
Mill
i.-
sampling are presented in Appendix E. Results follow:
t3
