Union Ice Company- Weber Street
Report of FIndings
Page: 7
Because of the apparent protocol discrepancy in the first two ground water
saiinpling rounds, Henkle and Associates chooses to reject this ground water
quality data and considers it to be invalid. We choose to accept the data
resulting from the third ground water sampling round as being more
representative of site conditions than the data resulting from the first two ground
water sampling rounds (see Exhibit A - Appendix E).
Data from all three sampling rounds was submitted to San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department by WHF Environmental on June 5, 1990.
The data was included in a request to the department by WHF Environmental to
perform a soil gas vapor survey at the site.
Ground water samples were taken from the following monitor wells; 1S, 1D,
2S, 3S, 4S, 4D, 5S, 6S, and 7S, These samples were analyzed for BTX&E by
EPA method 5030/Modified 8015. All samples analyzed showers nothing was
detected, except for she sample from MW-4S.
The MW4S sample was analyzed as follows:
Benzene - 3.0 icg/l
Toluene - 2,1 /cg/1
® Ethyl benzene - 3.6 ug/l
Total Xylene - 7.4 14g/1
Gasoline - ND mg/l
This shows that the upper aquifer is contaminated with benzene and other
gasoline additives. The horizontal extent of this contamination is undefined at
present, but we expect it to be restricted to a 100 foot radius around MW-4S.
