3.2.3 hlonilor "'ell Development
Prior to sampling, the monitor well will be developed to help ensure scdimcni-frce,
water samples. Lach well will be developed by surging with a surge block and
pumping until discharge is clear to the unaided cyc, Effective well de%clopmcat
procedures will remove finer sediment particles from the pare spaces of the gravel
pack allowing for the unobstructed passage of sediment-free formation water from the
aquifer into the well bore.
Groundwater from the development p process will be discharged onto the ground if thers
is no floating product and a sample of the discharge water has less than 10 ppm
organic compounds as measured with an Organic Vapor Analyzer (OVA) on the agitated
head space in a sample jar. If floating product is present or greater than 10 pprn
organic compounds is detected by the OVA, the discharge water will be placed in 35
gallon steel drums. Laboratory analysis of the purged water will be performed to
determine proper disposal procedures for the water should containment become
a necessary.
3.2.4 Monitor Well Survey
The casing top on the north side of each monitor well will be notched to provide a
reference point for surveying and water level measurements. Monitor well locations
will be surveyed to within I foot horizontal distance and 0.01 feet vertical elevation by
a surveyor licensed in the State of califorria.
3.2.5 Groundwater Monitoring
Water levels in all monitoring wells will be measured prior to development and one
week after development to determine the local groundwater gradient. Depth to
groundwater and product thickness will be measured using an electrical
product/wafer'
level indicator (sounder). The instrument will be cleaned and washed with a solution
--oi -Aleonox towith- ---------------
- — —--
—and rinsed type II reagent water prior to each well
measurement to prevent possible cross contamination.
6bbb0.o1/OStSG/UNION.2
10
lam" arm-EMMI-M
