These concerns were discussed at
a April 13, 1994, meeting between Catellus and PHS/EHD representatives, and a
mutually agreed general plan of characterization was developed. By performing
the field activities described in this letter workplan, ERM-West believes that
PHS/EHD's requirements for site characterization will be fulfilled, allowing
closure of the sites.
During the April 13, 1994, meeting, Catellus agreed to conduct additional soil
sampling within the area of the former excavations and the building footprints
to verify that chemical concentrations present in site soils do not pose a
significant risk to human health and the environment. ERM-West plans to
conduct the additional sampling via soil borings drilled with a hollow stem
auger rig and/or hydraulic drive point system. The proposed sampling
locations, protocols, and analytical methodologies are described below.
A Member of the Environmental
Resources Management Group
