Analysis of Stockpiled Soil at y� <br /> Former Tank Site #2 <br /> ERM <br /> 1325 West Weber Avenue <br /> Stockton, California <br /> s <br /> Dear Mary: <br /> s ERM-West received a copy of a letter dated February 20, 1992 <br /> i from the San Joaquin County Public Hea°lth.Services, Environmental Health <br /> Division (PHS/EHD) regarding the stockpiled soil at the site described above. <br /> On behalf of Catellus Development Corporation, following is a brief <br /> t description of the sampling and analysis which were conducted, and our <br /> responses to your comments. We apologize for the'delayed response to your <br /> letter. <br /> General Background <br /> ERM-West obtained six soil samples from random:locations at approximate <br /> depths between 1.5 and 2.5 feet within the soil stockpile on January 24, 1992. <br /> The samples were collected in clean two-inch brass tubes. The ends of the <br /> tubes were sealed with Teflon® tape and plastic-end caps. The tubes were <br /> immediately placed in Zip-Lock® plastic bags and ' <br /> then stored in a cooler <br /> containing ice. The samples were sent under chainof custody to Superior <br /> Analytical Laboratories, Inc., a California certified laboratory. <br /> o . <br /> Superior Analytical created two composite samples', each consisting of three <br /> of the soil samples obtained from the stockpile. The composite samples were <br /> analyzed for the following: <br /> TPH as gasoline (TPH-G) (Modified EPA SW-846 Method 5030 and <br /> 8015); <br /> • TPH as diesel (TPH-D) (Modified EPA SW-846 Method 8015); <br /> • Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, and Xylenes (BTEX) (EPA SW-846- <br /> Methods 5030 and 8020); and <br /> i <br /> !
