1325 W. Weber
Page 2
I i
PHS/EHD requested that a work plan be submitted by January 25, 19x3 to';b ntinue investigation of soil
contamination beneath the buildings and to define the extent of groundwater contamination. ERM-West
requested an extension of the due date for submittal of a work plan until after the submittal of the
problem assessment report (PAR). Since boundaries of contamination have not been defined, data is j
unavailable to prepare a PAR. PHS/EHD will accept, at this stage of the investigation, a summary report
with remedial alternatives instead of a PAR. Confirmation soil sampling included as part of the remedial
activity in the summary report may provide additional soil investigation information. Continued
monitoring will provide additional data which PHS/EHD will use to evaluate the necessity of the
installation of additional monitoring wells. PHS/EHD approved a due date{extension for the submittal of
a problem assessment report (PAR) until May 14, 1993. Therefore, please submit a site summary report
including interium remedial alternatives, as discussed, by May 14, 1993.
A future work schedule was established and included the following due dates:
December 8, 1992 Fourth quarter monitoring event,
January 15, 1993 Fourth quarter monitoring ieport due,
March 8, 1993 First quarter monitoring event,
April 15, 1993 First quarter monitoring report due,
May 14, 1993 Summary report including remedial alternatives.
1 '1
If you have any questions, comments, or to schedule a site inspection, please contact Mary Meays, REHS,
of my staff at (209)468-0337.
