(ERM-West), on behalf of Catellus Development Corporation (Catellus),
is writing you to request an extension for submitting a problem assessment
report (PAR) for the sites referenced above. In the letter dated July 27, 1992
from Ms. Laurie Cotulla of San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) to Mr. Ric Notini of Catellus,
PHS/EHD requested that a PAR be submitted by November 15, 1992. Catellus
requested that this PAR submission date be extended by six months to May 15,
1993.
Catellus requests additional time before submitting a PAR so that two more
quarters of groundwater monitoring data can be obtained and analyzed. The
hydrogeology of the former tank site #2 is complex. Monitoring data
accrymial.ated for at least one year would be valuable so that we gain a better
understanding of the groundwater gradient and the distribution of
petroleum constituents in the groundwater. A reliable database would allow
for the. effective development of an optimal remediation program, if
required, which is integrated with former tank site #1.
Catellus is committed to performing a timely and effective remediation
program for the West Weber sites. It is Catellus' desire to implement a
remediation program for the two sites, if required, which produces the
greatest benefit in a cost effective manner.
Catellus and ERM-West would like to meet with you in the future to discuss
the data accumulated during the project and assess possible remedial
alternatives, if necessary. We believe that your input would be valuable
A MEMBER OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL RESOURCES MANAGEMENT GROUP
