3
Ms. Meays So/ Page 4
' December 31, 1991
These pieces of equipment are situated in the outdoors where natural
elements (rodents, birds, etc.) may contact various pieces of equipment and
provide a source of fecal coliform.
(8) According to records at the Department of Water Resources (DWR), several
private and irrigation wells are situated within 2,000 feet of site. No
municipal supply wells are present. There are two domestic wells, one
irrigation well, one cathodic protection well, and 14 groundwater monitoring
wells (located at one site) within this radius. ERM-West is preparing a map
showing the locations of these wells and will include it in our work plan for
1325 West Weber Avenue which we will send to you by January 31, 1991.
(9) ERM-West is currently developing a work plan for further investigation of the
affected soil and/or groundwater associated with the former tank #2 located
at 1325 West Weber Avenue. As stated above, we do not believe that
developing a work plan for investigating the background levels of lead at the
-- -
site-are wary anted-at-this time;eve,wilt-provide-an analysis of mad 'levels in
the Fourth Quarter Ground Water Monitoring Report for the site.
As per our telephone conversation on December 16, 1991, we requested that you
extend the deadline for work plan submittal to January 31, 1992. Such an
extension would enable us to develop a higher quality work plan which thoroughly
addresses the salient issues at the site. You indicated in our telephone
conversation that this extended schedule was acceptable to the PHS/EHD.
I hope that this letter adequately addresses your concerns about this site. If you
have need of further assistance or have any questions, please contact either of the
undersigned at the telephone number listed above.
Sincerely,
ERM-WEST, INC.
(:a_Cw--- gL-'2
1JC
Bruce .
