r
i
Page 2
Ms. Mary Meays
May 16, 1994
j For each extraction event, a fixed-volume of--ground water (approximately 4,000
gallons) will'be extracted from each'site using the existing monitoring wells. As
described .and.documented in our ground-remediation activities report dated
April 13, 1994, the extracted water will be pumped into Baker tanks for
temporary storage and subsequently transported-via vacuum trucks to the City
of Stockton Publicly-Owned Treatment Works (POTW) for discharge. . Prior to
discharge, samples will-be collecfed from each tank and analyzed for volatile
organic compounds and metals as required by the POTW.
Based on the sample results from the four monitoring events, an evaluation of
the ground water conditions at the, sites will be-made to determine whether
additional .monitoring or extraction is necessary.
We
request that you respond in writing regarding-the proposed ground water
.
remediation activities. If we do not receive a written response within 30 days of
thereceipt-of this letter, we will assume that-PHS/EHD concurs with the
proposed approach._
rota
Please contact Jill Quillin at 946-0455.if you have any comments or
questions regarding the content of this letter.
3
Sincerely,
ERM-WEST, INC.
eloo
Jill A.
