SIM- N43ME" 11 _rON 4N r
'
e
.tiIr. Ric Notini ?ase 3
.Jay 28, i991
f.
= Standard ERM-West, Inc. Quality AssuranceiQuality Control (QA/QC)
procedures were followed throughout the construction process. All augers
were decontaminated prior to drilling each well by steam cleaning. The
sampling device was decontaminated prior to each use by washing in an
F Alconox solution followed by a clean water rinse. The brass tube liners for
.. the sampler were similarly cleaned prior to drilling. The well casing,
screen, etc. was cleaned and decontaminated prior to use by steam
cleaning. Soil cuttings from each boring were placed in Ial eled 55-gailon
drums and stored on site.
Well DgyCi?pment and Water Sa_mnl;n
Following construction, the new wells were developed and the pre-existing
,. wells were purged prior to sampling. Development was accomplished by
hand bailing approximately 18 gallons or 12 to 13 well volumes from each
' $ well. The bailing was continued until the parameters of temperature. pH,
and conductivity stabilized, and the silt content of the discharge water
1A markedly declined. The pre-existing wells were purged by bailing a similar
volume of water.
i QA/QC procedures were followed during development and purging. Prior
to work at each well, the bailer was cleaned and decontaminated with an
Alconox solution followed by a clean water rinse. Bailer cord was replaced
. between each location. Bailed water and water from decontamination
...,,, procedures was contained in 55-gallon drums and stored on site.
+ r After development and purging procedures were completed, all wells were
sampled. The wells were sampled with a pre-cleaned Teflon bailer
equipped with a removable petcock. Nater was transferred from the bailer
into laboratory supplied bottles. All samples (water and soil) provided to the
laboratory were labeled and sealed individually in zip-lock type plastic bags
then placed on ice in a coolei.
SoiLand Water -Amalyses
The soil and water samples were submitted to Curtis &Tompkins, Ltd., a
California Department of Health Services (DHS)certified laboratory located
in Berkeley, California. The samples were shipped Y p Peed under chain-of-custody
and analyzed according to the following test procedures.
• Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Gasoline, EPA Method 8015-1lodified-
0 Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzenes and Xylene (BTE&X), EPA Method
8020.
• Organic lead, DHS Method.
