t <br /> SECTION 1 <br /> 1 <br /> i <br /> INTRODUCTION <br /> This document is the workplan for a limited soil and groundwater <br /> investigation of a site located at 1515 West Weber Avenue, Stockton. <br /> San Joaquin County, California (Figure 1-1). <br /> Tank history <br /> The proposed work site consists of a former underground storage <br /> tank that was situated immediately adjacent to a warehouse. <br /> According to presently available records, the fuel tank had a capacity <br /> �._ <br /> • of 2000 gallons and was used for the storage of gasoline. Age of the <br /> tank is unknown. The tank was reportadly of single wall steel <br /> construction. The tank was removed for Santa Fe Pacific fealty <br /> Company through their agent EHJ Construction, San Francisco, <br /> California by North Cal Construction, Stockton, California in <br /> November 1988. At the time of removal a hole was reported at the <br /> t southern end of the tank. There is no information available to <br /> indicate the quantity of product that escaped from the tank. Samples <br /> of soil and water removed from the tank excavation indicated the <br /> presence of gasoline and fuel components benzene, toluene, <br /> ethylbenzenes, and xylenes(Table 1-1). <br /> Results of Previous Investigations <br /> t-. rtiaily <br /> Prior work by Kleinfelder, Inc. in November 1990, pa <br /> characterized the horizontal and depth extent of the petroleum <br /> products in the soils and groundwater. Their work also established <br /> the local <br /> groundwater flow direction and gradient, and characterized <br /> the site-specific geology. <br /> R f <br /> i71.�~A7�ATF �ilnL111ddWm= <br /> Kleinfelder conducted their investigation by initially completing a <br /> "soil-gas" survey through Tracer Research Corporation. The survey <br /> ' was performed by forcing a hollow tube to various depths, then <br /> withdrawing either soil-gas or groundwater for analysis. The <br /> sample locations and interpretation of results are presented in <br /> 1-1 <br />
