N <br /> sEcTION 2 <br /> BACKGROUND INFORMATION <br /> This section discusses the general setting and history of thesite,te, and <br /> and <br /> it provides information on the local geography, geology, <br /> hydrology. <br /> Site i",;isWry and Setting <br /> Historical information regarding the parcel of land located at the <br /> terminus of West Weber avenue is limited. The earliest record, circa <br /> 1917, indicates the area was a rail yard owned by the Atchison, <br /> Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad. By 1963, the rail yard had been <br /> replaced by warehouses. The warehouses are collectively under the <br /> ownership of Catellus Development corporation, formally Santa Fe <br /> Pacific Reality Company, and are individually referred to in this <br /> raport btheir corporate addresses:Each 3l � laivdl <br /> WeberAenue. warehouse isunderleasetoan nd individual <br /> business enterprise. <br /> According to Mr. Terry Cumberledge, Manager of General Potatoe <br /> and Onion, located at 1541 West Weber, the fuel tanks that were <br /> located at 1325, 1515, and 1541 were installed about the time the <br /> warehouses were constructed. Another consultant, aebeen <br /> Inc., reported that the tank at 1515 West Weber may ve <br /> installed in 1986. <br /> Geography <br /> The parcel is situated within the port area of the City oft Stockton, <br /> San <br /> l <br /> Joaquin County, California. The Stockton Deep <br /> bounds the property immediately to the north, and Morman Slough <br /> lies adjacent to the property on the west. Elevations range from a few <br /> feet above sea level along the Stockton Channel waterfront to <br /> approximately 10 feet above mean sea level (MSL) along West Weber <br /> Avenue. <br /> 2-1 <br />
