family with grown children and small children were having a Father's Day barbecue in the back yard. Someone began throwing dirt clods and rocks into our pool and at us. The children were playing in the pool and spa. I was hit with a dirt clod and my daughter-in-law Carla Spyksma and my husband were nearly hit. We were concerned with the safety of the children. Clods were lobbed at the roof of the house and into the yard. We called the Sheriff. Sunday morning my 87 year old husband cleaned out the pool. On June 20,we came home from church about 10:45 a.m. More dirt clods in the pool. Was this retaliation for us for exercising our right to call the Sheriff because of the harassment,the noise,and the rude behavior of people who acted as if no one else in the neighborhood existed?? I cite for you the state law 415,Fighting;noise;offensive words. My family has been maliciously and willfully disturbed by loud and unreasonable noise. There have been incidents when someone deliberately let the dumpster lid clang shut after midnight,shocking us awake. We cannot live like this! LIGHTING: Lights on the east side of the VFW property are shining into my home,causing us more distress and sleeplessness. Oh,I forgot to mention another intrusion: trespassing. My neighbor Vernetta Thompson is on vacation. I am taking care of her property. The wedding party of June 19 went into her orchard to take their wedding pictures. THE BOTTOM LINE: The VFW agreed not to rent out their property to outside parties that would intrude on the quiet lifestyle of this community. They also agreed to monitor all activities that take place on the property. Well,since then,I have learned that whatever comes out of their mouths in the form of promises—you might as well expect them to break their word and do the opposite. Another item you should be aware of. a white pickup has been parked on the property for several weeks. We have had break-ins and one armed assault in this neighborhood,and we neighbors are very suspicious of the goings on. My neighbor on the corner of Olive and West Ripon Road is a very quiet Oriental lady who in April was held up at gunpoint and robbed in her own driveway. The two Hispanic men who robbed her had been parked on the VFW property. She is traumatized and afraid to complain because she fears retribution. Vernetta Thompson came home to find that someone had been in her house—all her things had been gone through. Her barn door was open and the light was on. This lady is a widow who lives by herself. She is terrified.My alarm was set off on June 20 by someone who tried to enter my home via the garage door. We NEVER had any problems before and we attribute this to having a property next door which is basically open to the public. Some of these guests(?)are rude and intrusive—just what one would expect when alcohol is in the mix. We want our privacy and protection back! You Folks ignored the neighbors when we asked you not to approve this location for their post. You folks placed the stipulations by which this would be approved. Now,it is time for you folks to step up to the plate and take charge of this situation. NOT A SINGLE PERSON ON YOUR BOARD WOULD WANT TO LIVE NEXT DOOR TO SUCH AN INTOLERABLE SITUATION. In conclusion: I want the dirt pile moved immediately. I want the 10 foot stone wall installed. The agreement was that this wall is to be completed by September 23,2004. I WILL sue if this is not done. The Board of Supervisors approved this entire situation and I feel that you are obligated to see this through. I hold you responsible to look out for the welfare of the citizens of this neighborhood. I hope that you will take care of this so that my complaints will not have to be pursued in the courts. I am prepared to do this.
