1
' SECTION 6
SUMMARY OF FINDINGS
This section summarizes the findings of the tank removal activities
' at each of the former tank sites at the West Weber property.
' Former Tank Site #1
' A release of petroleum products to soil and ground water from a
2,000-gallon underground fuel storage tank formerly located at Site
#1 has been documented Investigations conducted at the site have
' defined the extent of the release. The lateral and vertical extent of
TPH and BTEX in soil at Site #1 is limited to a localized area in the
vicinity of the former tank, in a zone between approximately 6 and
' 11 feet below the ground surface. Based on data obtained during the
investigation, the volume of soils containing TPH as gasoline in
excess of 100 mg/kg (ppm) at Site #1 is estimated to be approximately
200 to 300 cubic yards.
The extent of TPH and BTEX in ground water is also limited to a
localized area in the vicinity of the former tank. The results of
' quarterly ground water samples collected from site monitoring wells
since April 1991 have shown a steady decline in the concentrations of
TPH-gasoline and benzene in ground water (all monitoring wells at
' Site #1 are non-detect for these compounds except for well MW-5)
' Former Tank Site#2
' The extent of the release of petroleum products to soil and ground
water from a 500-gallon underground fuel storage tank formerly
located at Site #2 was defined during the Phase I and Phase II
investigations. The lateral occurrence of TPH and BTEX in soils is
limited to the area immediately northeast of the former tank location
and the vertical occurrence is primarily limited to the 5-to-7.5-foot bgs
depth interval. Based on data obtained during the investigations, the
' volume of soils containing TPH as gasoline in excess of 100 mg/kg
(ppm) at Former Tank Site #2 is estimated to be approximately 500 to
700 cubic yards.
' The extent of TPH and BTEX in ground water at Site #2 is limited to a
localized area surrounding monitoring well MW-1A dust north of the
6-1
