SECTION 2 <br /> BACKGROUND INFORMATION <br /> This section discusses the general setting and history of the site, and <br /> provides information on the local geography, geology, and hydrology <br /> Site History and Setting <br /> Historical information regarding the site is limited The earliest <br /> record, circa 1917, indicates the area was a rail yard owned by the <br /> Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad By 1963, the rail yard had <br /> been replaced by a warehouse The warehouse is under the <br /> ownership of Catellus Development Corporation, formally Santa Fe <br /> Pacific Reality Company The warehouse is presently under lease to <br /> Graphic Contractors, Inc , a warehousing fatality for signs and new <br /> gasoline dispensers. <br /> According to Mr. Terry Cumberledge, manager of the neighboring <br /> General Potato and Onion, located at the former tank site #1, the fuel <br /> tanks that were located at the site were installed about the time the <br /> warehouses were constructed <br /> Tank History <br /> The subject site formerly contained one underground gasoline <br /> storage tank which was situated immediately adjacent to a <br /> warehouse ERM-West, acting on the behalf of Catellus, managed <br /> the tank removal activities in August 1991 under a permit issued by <br /> the San Joaquin Department of Public Health Services The work <br /> plan for this tank removal as provided an Appendix A The portion of <br /> the PAR that summarizes the tank removal activities as included an <br /> Appendix A <br /> Jam Dobbas, Inc , located an Newcastle, California, provided the <br /> construction services. Ramos Environmental Services an West <br /> Sacramento, California, provided services to empty, transport, and <br /> dispose of the contents of the tank at their fatality <br /> The top of the former tank was approximately 3.5 feet below the <br /> ground surface and the bottom was at 7.5 feet The fuel tank had a <br /> I capacity of approximately 500 gallons.
