1
SECTION 5
SUMMARY OF FINDINGS
Two former tank sites, located at 1515 and 1325 West Weber Avenue,
have reported releases of petroleum products into the surrounding
soils and ground water. Charactenzation of the conditions at 1515
West Weber has demonstrated that a release of gasoline (most likely
unleaded) and BTE&X compounds has occurred at some time in the
past. Due to the presence of a shallow water table, the release has
primarily affected the ground water. Affected soils between the
bottom of the former tank and the water table surface have been
' removed and replaced with clean soils.
The volume of affected soils below the ground water surface at the
1515 West Weber site is estimated to be approximately 150 cubic yards,
assuming 100 ppm TPH as gasoline is the Bunting criterion. Within
that volume, the highest concentrations are found within a 3-to 5-foot
thick layer of clayey soils that is bounded by the water table surface
and the clay-sand contact.
The extent and volume of affected soil and ground water at 1325 West
Weber is presently unknown. Laboratory reports indicate maximum
concentrations in the range of 1,000 ppm for soils and 100 ppm for
ground water The petroleum products discovered were primarily
gasoline and BTE&X, although some diesel fuel was also detected.
The 1325 West Weber site is located approximately 500 feet east of the
1515 West Weber site, and for the purpose of this report, ERM-West
assumes the two sites have a similar geologic and hydrologic setting.
Additionally, both sites are the result of leaking underground storage
tanks that primarily released gasoline.
•
 5-I
