ERM-West,Inc <br /> -N rAL HEALTI I 1777 Botelho Drive <br /> I �r � <br /> Suite 260 <br /> Walnut Creek,CA 94596 <br /> (510)946-0455 <br /> 96 AUG 14 PM 11' 09 (510)946-9968(Fax) <br /> August 12, 1996 <br /> Ms Mary Meays <br /> Senior RENS <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health Services <br /> Environmental Health Division <br /> 445 North San Joaquin Street ERM <br /> Stockton, California 95201 <br /> SUBJECT 1st Quarter 1996 Ground Water Monitoring Event <br /> 1325 & 1515 West Weber Avenue <br /> Stockton, California <br /> Dear Ms Meays <br /> On behalf of Catellus Development Corporation (Catellus), ERM-West, Inc , <br /> (ERM) is pleased to submit this letter summarizing the results of the 1st Quarter <br /> 1996 monitoring event recently conducted at Catellus' properties at 1325 and <br /> 1515 West Weber Avenue in Stockton, California This monitoring event was <br /> performed on March 7, 1996, in accordance with discussions at a meeting <br /> between Catellus and San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental <br /> Health Division (PHS/EHD) on September 1, 1995 <br /> Field activities included measuring water levels and sampling at the 10 onsite <br /> wells identified on Figure 1 The field procedures are described below, followed <br /> by a discussion of the water level measurements and analytical results As <br /> discussed last year, Catellus recognizes PHS/EHD's opinion that additional <br /> ground water remediation may be warranted prior to closure of the site In <br /> response to this position, this report concludes with a proposed strategy for <br /> conducting such remediation activities <br /> FIELD PROCEDURES/OBSERVATIONS <br /> Water levels and total depths were measured prior to sampling, between <br /> approximately 9 20 am and 10 00 am, on March 7, 1996 Water levels at several of <br /> the wells were observed to vary significantly over the period of one day, <br /> probably as a result of the tidal influence of the Stockton Deep Water Channel <br /> located just north of the site Water levels measured during the March sampling <br /> event are presented in Attachment A After measuring water levels, each well <br /> 01 was systematically purged and ground water samples were collected Purge <br /> A member of the Environmental <br /> Resources Management Group <br />
