Ms Mary Meays Page 2
August 12, 1996
records/field notes associated with the sampling event are presented in
Attachment A. The ground water samples were labeled appropriately and
maintained in a chilled cooler pending transport to the laboratory
As noted in the field notes, well MW-4A was located inside a building that
showed evidence of a fire, most of the eastern half of the inside of the building
appeared to have been significantly affected ERM was subsequently informed
that a fire occurred in the building 1n December 1995 The atmosphere inside the
building was dusty, and residual odors were present Although ash, burnt
wood, and melted plastic were on the floor surface near MW-4A, the well was
not damaged Prior to sampling, the area surrounding MW-4A was swept clean
with a broom
GROUND WATER FLOW PATTERNS
Ground water elevation data for the November 1995 (inadvertently omitted from
the last monitoring report) and the March 1996 monitoring events are presented
in Attachment B These data were posted and contoured on Figures 2 and 3 As
observed on these figures, the ground water flow direction is generally to the
south, with a slight mounding in the immediate vicinity of Former Tank#2
Ground water flow direction and water level fluctuations observed during these
events are consistent with observations made during the previous sampling
events
ANALYTICAL RESULTS
Samples from all ten wells were analyzed for TPH(gasolfne) by EPA Method
8015 modified, and for BTEX compounds using USEPA method 8020 In
addition, wells MW-3, and MW-5 near Former Tank Site 1, and wells MW-1A,
MW-2A, and MW-3A, near Former Tank Site 2 were analyzed for TPH(diesel)
All analyses were performed by Inchcape Testing Services of San Jose, California
Laboratory data sheets and Chain-of-Custody forms associated with the March
1996 sampling event are included in Attachment A of this letter Attachment C
provides the November 1995 laboratory reports inadvertently omitted from the
last monitoring report
TPH as diesel and gasoline, and BTEX compounds were detected in ground
water samples collected from Former Tank Sites#1 and #2, at concentrations
similar to those associated with recent sampling rounds These detections are
summarized below and in Tables 1 and 2, respectively
