i <br /> SECTION 3 <br /> PREVIOUS INVESTIGATIONS <br /> 1 <br />' Previous investigations have been performed at Former Tank Sites #1 <br /> and #2 by ERM and other investigators A chronological listing of <br /> available summary reports and letter reports prepared during <br />' investigations at the former tank sites is included in Appendix A The <br /> scope of these investigations is summarized below for each site <br /> Former Tank Site #1 <br /> Activities performed at Former Tank Site #1, located at 1515 West <br /> Weber Avenue include <br /> • Removal of a 2,000-gallon fuel UST (1988), <br /> • Performance of a soil gas survey, installation of three shallow soil <br /> iborings, and installation of three monitoring wells for site <br /> characterization (1990), <br />' • Installation of two additional monitoring wells (1991), <br /> • Excavation of hydrocarbon-containing soils (1993), <br />' • Quarterly monitoring of ground water chemical quality during the <br /> period from April 1991 through February 1995, and <br /> • Performance of three ground water extraction eventsp erformed <br /> during the period 1993 through 1994 <br />' A description of these activities is provided below <br /> Tank Removal <br /> A 2,000-gallon fuel UST was removed from Former Tank Site #1 in <br /> November 1988 (Figure 3-1) The tank was reported to be of single-wall <br /> steel construction Visual observations during tank removal indicated <br /> that the tank contained several holes At the time the tank was <br /> removed, the contents were reported to be unleaded gasoline fuel <br /> - 3-1 <br />
