MEMORANDUM Page 3of6 E.■
Holly Trading
Tracy,, CA 00 S I E G F R I E D
CA
Soil Acceptance Rate (Chesney 2019) = 0.311 gal/sqft/day (see Appendix A, page 9)
Minimum Filter Bed Size for Soil Acceptance Rate = 960 gal/day ADF/0.311 gal/sqft/day= 3,087 sqft
Actual square footage within the Infiltrator chambers:
Total SF= 33.75 ft* 96.0 ft= 3,240 sqft> 3,087 sqft
V. Design and Operational Specifications for Dosing/Surge Tank
and the Filter Beds:
Pump: Zoller 163 1/2hp with 2" FM.
Surge Tank Capacity: Siegfried recommends that the surge/dosing tank be sized to hold one ADF.
This will provide capacity to allow the septic tanks to continue discharging to the end of the workday
when the surge tank pump is offline due to unforeseeable problems(provided the surge tank pumps
were working properly the day prior and emptied the surge tank as designed). Since the primary
septic tanks were sized to provide a minimum of one day detention and the surge/dosing tank was
sized to provide a minimum of one day detention, the total detention time for effluent treatment is 4
days minimum, which is consistent with Orenco's recommended detention time of 2-3 days.
Discharge Assembly: The 2"discharge pipe from the dosing tank will be connected to a 4" PVC tight
line by a 2X4 reducer— this will reduce the energy by decreasing the velocity in the pipe. This 4"
PVC tight line will be a minimum of 30 linear feet long before discharging into the distribution box.
The distribution box is designed with a 2" drop at the entrance.
There will be six (6) outflow pipes connected to the distribution box. All pipes will be 4" PVC tight
lines and range in length, with the minimum length being 2 linear feet. At the transition to the
perforated lines, the pipes will drop 2" to the edge of the leach field. At the edge of the leach field,
the 4" PVC tight lines will be connected to perforated leach lines. All perforated leach lines will lay
flat and have a 4" diameter.
Laterals for Each Filter Bed: 4" PVC perforated lines with inspection parts. Pipes will be 33.75 feet
long and placed 12 feet on-center across 96 linear feet.
VI. Nitrate Loading Study & Soil Suitability Study:
The Nitrate Loading and Soil Suitability Study performed by Chesney Consulting in 2019 can be found in
Appendix A.
VII.
