At your request, Terracon's LSI was
undertaken in response to the results of Terracon's Phase I Environmental Site Assessment
(ESA Report No. 60047818 dated September 22, 2004) which identified the following potential
recognized environmental condition (REC):
• There is an oil/water separator and sump located at the truck wash bay. It appears that
the wash bay has been in use for at least 10-15 years. Minor staining was observed on
V
the concrete surface of the truck wash bay. In addition, evidence of a previous sub-
surface investigation is visible near the oil/water separator. Based on the length of time
,. the wash bay has been in use, the presence of this equipment represents a REC.
The objective of the LSI was to evaluate the presence of volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
. . and total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) in the on-site soils (above relevant laboratory reporting
limits) as a result of a potential release from on-site steam cleaning activities and the oil/water
separator. Terracon's LSI was conducted in accordance with Terracon's proposal dated
October 5, 2004, as authorized by Mr. Gary Elkin of Stewart & Stevenson on October 11, 2004.
„ 1
