Thermo-King Stockton LSI Terracon
Project Number; 67047008
November 5, 2004
V
The groundwater flow direction and the depth to shallow groundwater, if present, would likely
vary depending upon seasonal variations in rainfall and depth to the soil/bedrock interface.
Without the benefit of on-site groundwater monitoring wells surveyed to a datum, groundwater
flow direction beneath the site cannot be ascertained.
No odors were detected in the soil samples collected from soil boring B-1. PID readings did not
exceed a background concentration of 0.0 parts per million (ppm) in the soil samples.
Following completion, soil boring B-1 was backfilled to surface grade with Portland cement. The
grouting operations were witnessed and approved by Ms. Margaret Lagourno, a representative
of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, as required by county
regulations.
'— 2.2 Soil Sampling
Terracon's soil sampling program involved submitting one soil sample from the soil boring for
` laboratory analysis. Soil samples were collected from the zone exhibiting the highest PID
reading. If no elevated PID readings were detected, soil samples were collected from the
capillary fringe zone, from the interval exhibiting a change in lithology, or from the bottom of the
boring, based on the field professional's judgement. Soil sample intervals for each boring are
presented with the soil sample analytical results (Table 1) and are provided on the lithologic
boring logs included in Appendix B.
The soil sample (Stock @ 1-2.5 feet) was collected in an acetate sleeve that was capped with
Teflon sheets and plastic end caps and placed on ice in a cooler which was secured with a
custody seal. The sample cooler and completed chain-of-custody forms were relinquished to
Alpha Analytica analytical laboratory in Sparks, Nevada for expedited (24-hour) turnaround.
V
3.0 LABORATORY ANALYTICAL METHODS
V
The soil sample collected from soil boring B-1 was analyzed for VOCs using EPA SW-846
Method 826013, TPH-extractable Oet fuel, diesel, and oil) by EPA Method 80158, and TPH-
- purgeable (gasoline) by EPA Method 8015B.
Laboratory results are summarized in the tables included in Appendix C. The executed chain-of-
custody form and laboratory data sheets are provided in Appendix D.
4
V
V
V
