U U <br /> E <br /> Site Safety and Health Plan <br /> Petroleum Hydrocarbon Contamination <br /> Terracon Project#67047008 <br /> Page 10 <br /> • Tape Sleeves/Legs to Gloves and Boots <br /> If air monitoring exceeds Action Level specified for upgrade to LEVEL C personal protective <br /> equipment, personnel will don: <br /> • Full Face Air Purifying Respirator <br /> i <br /> Equipped with Combination Organic Vapor/Acid Gas/HEPA Cartridges <br /> All Terracon personnel will mobilize their company issued response bag to the job site. Each <br /> Terracon employee is responsible for periodically inventorying the bag and ensuring that the full <br /> complement of personal protective equipment is maintained. Chemical cartridges will be <br /> changed daily prior to start of site activity. <br /> 12.0 DECONTAMINATION <br /> Equipment decontamination is necessary on all petroleum hydrocarbon sites. Personnel <br /> decontamination for projects below personal protective Level C will consist of washing off safety <br /> footwear, proper cleaning or disposal of outer and inner gloves and thorough washing of face, <br /> arms and hands. A full body shower will be required as soon as possible upon leaving the <br /> project site. For projects involving Level C personal protective equipment, a decontamination <br /> station will be established and the following procedures enforced. <br /> 12.1 Personal Decontamination <br /> Personnel will establish a decontamination station on the interface of the Exclusion Zone. A <br /> Contaminant Reduction Zone will be established and will extend 10 feet beyond from the <br /> decontamination station. <br /> Two Wash Tubs <br /> • Scrub Brush <br /> • Plastic Bags <br /> • Water and Alconox Detergent <br /> The wash tub on the exclusion zone side of the site will contain a solution of water and Alconox <br /> detergent; the second wash tub will contain clean rinse water. Personnel decontamination will <br /> consist primarily of detergent washing and rinsing of reusable exterior protective gear. <br /> Coveralls will be removed by turning the clothing inside out. <br /> Personnel may not leave the contaminant reduction zone without proceeding through the <br /> decontamination sequence described below. Decontamination station will consist of: <br /> • Wash work gloves, boots and polylaminated protective coveralls, <br /> I <br /> • Rinse work gloves, boots and coveralls, <br /> 0 Remove tape at wrists and ankles, <br />
