Periodic sampling of this
well should be done until site certification occurs. Also if there
is a sample tap for the well before water enters the pressure tank,
sampling should occur at that point in the water system in the
future.
Both the December 1992 and March 1993 quarterly reports state that
monitoring well MW-1 was not sampled due to the presence of
floating liquid hydrocarbons. The table of analytical results
lists "Sheen" for October 1992 and "Floating Liquid Hydrocarbons"
for January 1993 . The floating liquid hydrocarbons should be
removed from this well especially since there is no active
remediation plan for this site. The amount removed and disposal
method should be included in the quarterly reports.
If there is measurable free product it should be removed from the
well using appropriate recovery and disposal techniques per
California Code of Regulations Title 231 Division 3 , Chapter 16,
Section 2655. A free product removal plan should be submitted to
PHS/EHD within 45 calendar days of the date of this letter. In
addition free product removal reports shall be included in your
quarterly reports and should include the following information:
(1) The name of person(s) responsible for implementing the
free product removal measures;
(2) The estimated quantity, type, and thickness of free
product observed or measured in wells, boreholes, and
excavations;
(3) The type of free product recovery system used;
A Division of San Joaquin Counry Health Care Services 0
