Box 67
Banta, CA 95304
RE: 5491 "F" St. IN REPLY REFER TO SITE CODE: 1502
Banta, CA
San Joaquin County, Public Health Services, Environmental Health
Division (PHS/EHD) has reviewed the September 8, 1989, "PRELIMINARY
HYDROGEOLOGIC ASSESSMENT REPORT" prepared by Delta Environmental
Consultants, Inc. , for this site. Two additional ground water
monitoring wells were installed during this phase of investigation.
The report summarizes information from a past investigation, and
includes analytical results for one complete round of sampling.
Based on the levels of hydrocarbon contamination detected, three
additional ground water monitoring wells are proposed.
The proposed well locations appear adequate for investigating water
quality in the vicinity of the underground storage tank area. We
recommend that all new and existing wells be sampled to confirm
analytical results. We also recommend that after purging the wells
the samples be taken with a bailer, rather than by pumping, to
assure that the samples are not being affected by the
polyvinylchloride tubing used in the pump.
A "Problem Assessment Report" should be submitted to San
Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health
Division (PHS/EHD) by July 15, 1990.
All proposals and reports submitted must be accompanied by a Letter
of Acknowledgment from the responsible party(ies) (sample
enclosed) .
The San Joaquin County PHS/EHD will continue to review proposals
for the purpose of compliance to local ordinance requirements for
permits for certain activities such as borings, monitoring
wells/piezometers, vapor probe surveys, extraction systems, etc.
cu '
U
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
