Monitoring Equipment and procedures: <br /> OVM with 10.0 eV lamp. Take background readings in the area you do not <br /> suspect to be contaminated. Let instrument run continuously, or set on standby <br /> mode. Take readings in the breathing zone upon initiating site work. For an up- <br /> grade to be warranted, readings in the breathing zone must persist of time; i.e., 5 <br /> to 10 minutes. This is a judgment call. Spikes on the OVM above the action level <br /> do not call for an up-grade. <br /> ACTION LEVELS: If readings are 0 to <25 ppm above background in the <br /> breathing zone, continue to level D. <br /> Readings from>25 to 100 ppm above background, in the breathing zone,require <br /> Level C (or leaving the site). Readings over 100 ppm in the breathing zone <br /> require up-grade to Level B. <br /> Team Members: Name Responsibility <br /> Site Safety Officer Mike S. This shall include <br /> informing them of the hazards associated with site work, and the chemicals anticipated. <br /> For excavating - Position equipment and contractor upwind of the area to be excavated, . <br /> and up-gradient of the drilling site. <br /> Set up decontamination area upwind of the drilling site. This means get water and <br /> cleaning solution in your buckets to wash off your boots and gloves prior to beginning <br /> work. You want to set up the decontamination area at a sufficient distance from the <br /> excavation or boring work to be reasonably sure you are not in an area that can become <br /> contaminated by splashing water or flying dirt. Your support area is where you park the <br /> truck, etc. It is the place you need to consider as clean. You do not want to make it <br /> "dirty"by any of your activities. It is anticipated that work,will start in Level D,but be <br /> prepared to up-grade or leave the site. <br /> Inspect exclusion zone (the area where you are going to excavate, where you suspect <br /> contamination, either "on-site" or off) for spark sources, paying careful attention to <br /> electrical equipment. Do not start excavation or boring work until all possible sources of <br />
