We have
discussed this site before. The last soil:gas survey encountered soil gas exceeding ESLs for TPHg and
benzene, but using all the site data to derive a representative concentration at the 95% UCL, the site
groundwater, soil and soil gas concentrations passed a RISC 4 evaluation for vapor intrusion. The sorbed
concentrations, using the same techniques, also passed for direct contact, etc. Total risk < 1 X 106 and
hazard < 1.
Arcadis also estimated the residual sorbed contamination: 109 pounds TPHg, 1.5 pounds'benzene. TPHd,
TPHk and TPHmo masses are unknown. They estimate.all dissolved concentrations will achieve all
WQOs by 2050. For several years, BTEX and oxygenates have not been commonly detected in
groundwater samples and are not currently considered a threat.
Groundwater usage in the area is high,.but years of monitoring the most vulnerable down-gradient-ish well
has not resulted in detection of any COCs.
Sorbed plume and impacted groundwater are adequately delineated. I think we can proceed with closure.
Let's discuss.
Nuel
Oh yeah, 5-Year review recommended....closure `consideration'.
i
a
9/7/2011
