, z
s`
` On May 10, 1994, Apex conducted a short duration vapor extraction test to determine if
vapor extraction is a remediation technology alternative for this site. Vapor flow during
the test was estimated from the vacuum measurements obtained during the test.
Vacuum data collected during the test, indicated a radius of influence of approximately 45
feet from monitoring well MW-1. Minor petroleum constituents were detected in soil
samples collected from monitoring wells MW-2, MW-4 and MW-5 during the previous
site investigations. Petroleum constituent concentrations were not detected in soil
samples collected from monitoring wells MW-3 and MW-6. Based on these data, vapor
extraction from MW-1 did affect the known extent of petroleum constituents in soil
underlying the site. Groundwater samples collected from monitoring wells MW-2 through
MW-6 do not contain petroleum constituent concentrations. It is assumed that the vapor
flow obtained during the vapor extraction test was sufficient to capture the known extent
of petroleum constituents in groundwater underlying the site.
