Workplan for Limiter!Subsurface Investigation
Moore Bulk Petroleum Plant,5491 F Street,Banta,San Joaquin County,California
GROUNDWATER SAMPLING
The four groundwater monitoring wells will be developed, sampled, and the tops of the casing
elevations will be surveyed referenced to the existing wells according to the Apex Standard
Operating Procedures (SOP) included in Appendix B. Apex will also sample the existing five
wells (MW-1, MW-2, MW-3, MW-5, and MW-6) at the same time. Groundwater monitoring
well MW-6 has not been sampled recently in the past due to new paving in the location of MW-6.
Apex will use a metal detector and try to locate MW-6 during the proposed sampling event.
All nine groundwater samples will be submitted, under chain-of-custody, to a state-certified
laboratory for analysis of total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH), as gasoline, by modified EPA
Method 8015; benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, total xylenes (BTEX) , MTBE by EPA Method
8020; and five oxygenates by EPA Method 8260.
Once the analytical data is reviewed and evaluated, a "Results Report" will be prepared
documenting the results of this investigation.
ADDITIONAL REQUESTED ITEMS
In the July 12, 1999 Ietter from SJCEHD six items were requested to be included with this
workplan.
A copy of quality assurance/quality control data from the laboratory for the samples analyzed
from the geoprobe work is included as Appendix C. Also included in Appendix C is the chain-of-
custody form for previous monitoring well sampling event conducted on April 22, 1999.
An attempt will be made to locate monitoring well MW-6 and sampled during the next quarterly
sampling event. This will consist of utilizing a metal detector in order to locate the existing well
beneath the 6-inch gravel layer.
A copy of the receipt from Forward Landfill for the 300 cubic yards of disposed soil is included as
Appendix D. B & C Construction (contractor that performed the station upgrades) currently has
the documentation for the disposal of the 300 gallons of water removed from the former UST
excavation. Once this documentation is relinquished to Apex, a copy will be forwarded to
PHSEHD.
SITE SAFETY PLAN
A Site Safety plan (SSP) has been prepared and will be on site during all field activities. All on-
site work will be conducted according to the SSP. The SSP, included as Appendix E, will contain
information on the properties of the hazardous materials known to be on the site. This
information is equivalent to that contained within Material Safety Data Sheets.
4
